| © Varga András Géza‘Are We Who We Think We Are?’ is the title of the article I have just read in Newsweek, published by Wray Herbert on the 22nd of May, 2007. The unknown words can be found under this text, then 12 sentences, which helped me to memorize these words. - Malleable – variable
- Malevolent – unkind
- Praise – bless
- Timid – shy
- Scoundrel – villain
- Aptitude – tendency
- Subtle – circumstantial
- Trait – characteristic
- Irrevocably – cannot be changed
- Ostensibly – at first sight
- Inflate – set up
- Intervention – interference
My sister wanted to get something special from me on her birthday so I bought her a really creatively malleable bracelet which has a variable build. To dissipate the malevolent gossips, Mr. Brown has invited her wife to the Caribbean Islands for a week, which was a good alibi to suggest that their marriage is the strongest ever. Tom’s provost do not like when his employees praise his personality to the skies, because he says it is rather lamentable than remarkable. The whole class started to laugh at Sarah when she answered the teacher’s question in a timid voice. What they have to do is to take their scoundrel son to a psychiatrist because the kid’s behavior is disastrous, not to mention the fact that he was also fired up from the school. Aptitude for smoking can be inherited, but you can be the only one person who has the chance to say no for smoking. I do hope you can. The reporter with the help of subtle questions intends to extort the whole story from Angelina Jolie, who is enough smart to change the subject. The trait of Hungarian girls is that they are – not just said to be but as a matter of fact – very beautiful and probably the prettiest women in the world. I do agreeJ There is nothing to do because the company irrevocably closed its doors for an indeterminate time. Everything seemed to be ostensibly fine, but after a couple of minutes the burglar has broken into the girl’s house next door. I have to admit that yesterday I forgot to give the present to my mum who over-inflated this tiny fault. Thanks to Mike’s intervention Jody escaped from the bear cage where she previously crawled in to fondle the teddy bear. | | |
| ©Varga András Géza Google has a Universal Search! Today spending hours on surfing on the net is not a big deal. It is used in all walks of life hence there can be no doubt that billions of people become inseparably attached to the most enormous wonder of modern technology which is the largest interconnected computer network. Google, the most visited website in the world, carried out a new tool ‘Universal Search’ to make the searching process much easier for people addicted to Internet. Previously, whenever you intended to find a certain page containing an expression or a word that is needed, the first step was to open the upper mentioned site and then to enroll the wanted terms in the search box. Then a plenty of web pages appeared depending on which category you entered in: Web, Images, Groups, News, Scholar or More. These specialized channels are good for restricting the number of alternatives which are edited by Google. However, it seemed to be a waste of time, because the company came forward with Universal Search, a unique ‘search engine’, which enables us to find the right pages without giving directions by categories. An article published on the 22nd of May, 2007 in TIME by Laura Locke introduced the latest invention put on the market by Google that unveiled ‘Universal Search’. "We always have to improve our search” Sergey Brin the co-founder of the company suggests that there is no telling how successful the undertaking is, but what they have to do is to extend proceeds continuously with the help of investigating scores of dollars to generate the most modern technical acquisitions. To compete with rivals (Yahoo!, MSN) is needless while they maintain only a tiny minority against the monarch company which is supposed to be impregnable. It is a satisfaction for charter members to know that Google possesses a rising market. They want to see happy, pleased searchers and this is the core point. Universal Search is just the initial part of the ongoing alteration of Google which subsequent aims resort to more novelties. For instance Youtube’s numberless video assets were purchased by the company last year which means that users will be able to search for video clips simply by clicking on Google. If you are interested in the topic let me recommend you the article I mentioned: ‘Google Unveils "Universal Search”’ by Laura Locke. | | |

| © Varga András Géza Et tu, Mickey? It was a mixed metaphor at first sight. After scrutinizing an article of TIME, “et tu” was pretty unfamiliar to me that’s why I have decided to do some research to find the meaning of the expression while I could not make it out from the context. Is Shrek bad for kids? – was the title of the summary published by James Poniewozik on the 10th of May, 2007. What the first thing I did was to enter “et tu” in Google website to find the appropriate equivalent of it. I was not disappointed when Wikipedia appeared as the first site containing the possible answers of my question. With the help of it, the meaning of “et tu” came more and more upon me however they did not write Mickey after the comma but Brute. When I dug into the investigation of the subject of my Wow! Ain’t It EZ Page, it turned out that “et tu” is actually a Latin phrase and “et tu, Brute” was, “according to legend, the last words of Julius Caesar”1 – says the Wikipedia. In English, /you too/ or /even you/ are the interpretations of the expression. That was the point when I began thinking about the Hungarian translation of it, because Hungarians prefer to say “et tu mi fili Brute?” /you too, my child, Brute?/ that are may not be the last words from Caesar’s mouth. It’s just pure guest. There are three variations in connection to what the final phrase could be of the Roman emperor. - According to the Roman historian and biographer Suetonius claims that Caesar questioned the following: “και συ τεκνον” /Kai su, teknon? = you too my child?/;
- “However in some languages the equivalent Latin translation “tu quoque, fili mi?” /You also, my son?/ is better known”1;
- What makes it really famous was the play “Tragedy of Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare, who used simply the “Et tu, Brute?” phrase that was the only one expression uttered in Latin in the performance.
To attenuate my thirst for knowledge I continued to browse on the internet for some new details related to “et tu”. I have found a pretty interesting page3, which says that Brute was not the son of Caesar, because when he born, Julius was just 15 years old and the love-affair between him and Brute’s mother evolved only after 10 years of the birth of Brute which implicates the assumption that “mi fili” /my child/ might not be delivered by Caesar when he died. “’Et tu, Brute?’ is used to express surprise and dismay at the treachery of a supposed friend”2 in English. The Hungarian terms have mostly the same connotation; however we use “et tu mi fili Brute?” /you too, my child, Brute?/ to denote that someone did an unexpected action.
